IEF Science Competition is for you.

About IEF:

The Israel educational foundation

(IEF), is foundation whose primary focus

is to rekindle the lost passion of modern

students towards science. Science in the

modern society has been painted as

uninteresting and unprofitable- we now

dole out millions of naira in musical

contests, dance competitions and the

likes, while the bedrock of national

advancement (science) is left to suffer.

And since the easiest way for mediocrity

to thrive is for excellence to do nothing

IEF has taken it upon itself to right this

wrong. This science competition is hope

fully going to be one of the agendas of IEF

to re-beautify science in Edo State and the

country at large.

The IEF is the brainchild of master Israel

Nmoye (popularly called cyano) a

seasoned biology and chemistry tutor

known all over Edo State. He is an

Author, and a graduate of the prestigious

university of Benin where he earned a

B.sc in Biochemistry with honors.

How to Enter:

Simply get a recent copy of any of the

author’s new books (jamb science

encyclopedia for biology or chemistry)

and detach the form at the back. Fill it

and bring it with you on the day of the

exam.

Escaped prisoner sets new world record after being on run for sixty years

       

          The world’s most elusive fugitive is still on the

run after breaking out of jail 60 years ago. John

Patrick Hannan used knotted bedsheets to scale

the walls of Verne Prison , Portland, Dorset, in

December 1955.

Hannan, who holds the world record for longest

escape from custody, disappeared without a trace

and would now be aged 81. The Irishman broke

free just 30 days into his 21-month sentence for

car theft and assaulting two police officers.

Dorset Police, who have officially given up looking

for him, believe he returned to his native country

soon after he vanished.

       

Their last high-profile appeal came in 1998 when

they asked the crook to contact them.

While he may no longer be alive, his death has

not been recorded so he is technically still a

wanted man and is listed as missing on the

police national computer.

The previous longest escape record of 45 years,

11 months, was held by double killer Leonard

Friscoe from Nevada in the US.

Another famous fugitive, the late Great Train

Robber Ronnie Biggs, was on the run for 32 years

before he finally gave himself up.

This photo shows how a suspected scorned

woman got revenge on her man by dumping his

clothes on top of a car parked on the street. The

photo which has been shared on Facebook, shows

a collection of shirts and trousers dumped on the

roof and bonnet of a black 4X4 vehicle.

Attached to the car is a white piece of paper or

cloth with a message, apparently written in fiery

red ink. It says: "Men's clothes - free to a good

home". Lol

Although it is unclear why the clothes have been

dumped on the car or when, it has been

speculated that it is the handiwork of a scorned

woman.

ISIS throws Syrian teenage boy off a roof for being gay but the ISIS chief who raped him is spared

 
  Militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) executed a
teenage boy by throwing him off a roof in Syria’s
eastern city of Deir ez-Zor for being gay, local
sources reported on Friday.
The 15-year-old boy was arrested by ISIS
militants on charges of homosexuality and he
was thrown from the top of a building in central
Deir ez-Zor.
“The horrific execution took place in front
of a large crowd,” a local media activist and
an eyewitness told ARA News in Deir ez-
Zor.
     
        An informed source reported that the victim was
captured “in the house of an ISIS leader” earlier
on Thursday.
“The boy was accused of being engaged in
a homosexual relation with the prominent
ISIS officer Abu Zaid al-Jazrawi,” media
activist Sarai al-Din told ARA News.
While the boy was executed, Abu Zaid was
expelled to Iraq after being deprived of his
position.
“Abu Zaid was forced to leave Syria and
join the fighting fronts in northwestern Iraq.
The decision has been taken by the ISIS
leadership,” al-Din said.
According to pro-ISIS sources, the Sharia Court in
Deir ez-Zor had demanded the execution of Abu
Zaid for being homosexual, but the ISIS top
commanders insisted to let him join the
battlefronts in Iraq instead, as the group has been
recently exposed to heavy losses in battles both
in Syria and Iraq.
 

All banks to comment zero CoT

      Effective from last week Friday, January 1, 2016,

Nigerian banks are expected to charge nothing as

Commission on Turnover (CoT) according to the

gradual phase out plan of the Central Bank of

Nigeria (CBN). The CBN in April 2013 had revised

the guidelines on bank charges, introducing the

gradual phasing out of commission on turnover.

The revised guideline had introduced a gradual

reduction of CoT from N5 per mile (per N1000) in

early 2013 to N3 per mille or N1000, N2 per

N1000 in 2014 and is to be N1 per N1000 in 2015

and finally phased out effective January 1, 2016.

Although some banks had stopped charging CoT,

others still charge and in some cases above the

stipulated N1 per mille which it was last year.

Also for some banks, the amount charged as CoT

depends on the customers’ relationship and ability

to haggle with the bank.

Last year, the apex bank had ordered deposit

money banks to refund illegal fees charged

customers over a period of one year, giving them

30 days to refund the excess charges or face

severe penalties. Specifically, the central bank

said some banks had been overcharging

customers on the Commission on Turnover while

some lenders had also imposed illegal

maintenance fees on the CoT-free accounts.
